MORE THAN A TEAM
BUILD BETTER PLAYERS.
Most basketball programs focus on games.
RoughRiders is built around helping players improve.
Our six-month season combines skill training, basketball IQ, athletic performance, and purposeful competition to help players become more confident, more skilled, and better teammates.
SKILL. IQ. COMPETITION.
August 24, 2026 – February 24, 2027
HOW THE SEASON WORKS
FALL
BUILD THE PLAYER

🔥 Small-Sided Competition
Players immediately apply those skills in our Fall 3v3 League and two 5v5 tournaments.
The goal is simple: Build better players.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if my son cannot play during the Fall?
We understand that families have different schedules.
If your son cannot participate during the Fall, we would still love to have him join us for the Winter Season if roster space is available.
Returning Fall players will have priority, and any remaining openings will be offered based on team availability.
While we encourage families to participate in the full six-month season for the greatest benefit, we will do our best to accommodate Winter-only players whenever possible.
Will there be another Winter tryout?
There are no planned Winter tryouts. Any Winter openings will depend on roster availability after the Fall season.
Does my son have to attend tryouts?
Yes. All players are evaluated during tryouts before team placements are made.
What are coaches looking for at tryouts?
We evaluate more than talent. Coaches look at skill level, decision-making, effort, coachability, attitude, competitiveness, and potential for growth.
How many days per week do teams practice?
Teams train twice each week with RoughRiders coaches. Players also participate in weekly athletic performance training with their team.
How many games will teams play?
During the Fall, teams compete in a 3v3 league and two selected 5v5 tournaments. During the Winter, teams compete in the JPS League with optional tournaments based on team goals.
Why did RoughRiders combine Fall and Winter?
Because improvement takes time. A six-month season allows players to build skills, confidence, basketball IQ, and habits without restarting every few months.
Is RoughRiders focused on winning?
Competing is important, but development comes first. Our goal is to help players become better basketball players over the long term while learning how to compete the right way.
What if my son already plays another sport?
Many of our players participate in multiple sports. We encourage families to communicate with us so we can help balance commitments whenever possible.
How will I know if my son made a team?
Families will receive an email after tryouts with team placement information and next steps.
Why does RoughRiders use 3v3 during the Fall?
We believe players improve fastest when they have more opportunities to play, make decisions, and solve problems on the court.
Compared to traditional 5v5 games, 3v3 gives every player:
• More ball touches
• More scoring opportunities
• More decision-making
• More defensive possessions
• More space to create
The result is faster individual improvement that carries directly into 5v5 basketball.
